Mission Statement

I believe I exist in spite of the notion that “everything has already been done before”. I know we have all heard people say this and in a way, it's true. Everything has already been done before, told before, and seen a million times. But this is from one perspective. The western mainstream, cis male perspective has dominated our stream of media consciousness for centuries. And from this point of view, millions of stories have already been told. But from a black perspective, we have just scratched the surface, the tip of the iceberg if you will. I exist in a margin that people just recently learned the existence of. It's like looking at the top of a rock and saying “It's just a rock, there's nothing else to it”. But then people like me come along and say: “Wait, what about under the rock?”. Come to find out there's a whole ecosystem of bugs living under it. I live by the saying “change your perspective, change your life”. Like changing your camera angle can transform a scene, and like a single word can change a sentence. Changing the perspective of the industry could bring us endless possibilities for stories and ideas that have never been done before. Now is the time for people like me, to share our perspective. It's time for us to disrupt the system, to save it.
